Registration Fees

An annual registration fee of $35 per student or $55.00 per family is due and payable at the time of registration. The non-refundable fee is applicable from September 1 until August 31 and is not prorated if a student enrolls late in the academic year. The fee is applicable to both new students and returning students.


Tuition Fees (General)

Tuition fees are based on a 39 week lesson term from September-June. Lessons that fall on statutory holidays are included. Lessons held over Christmas Break and Spring Break are not included. Private students who will be absent due to an extended holiday and who have given 3 weeks notice, can make-up the missed lesson(s) at a time mutually agreeable to both parties.


Private Lesson Tuition

Tuition and registration fees are due by cheque in full at time of registration OR with 2 post-dated cheques dated September 1 and February 1 OR with 10 post-dated cheques dated September 1 – June 1. Returning students must remit their registration fee and tuition by June 10 in order to hold their spot for the following fall term. Tuition fees do not include exam fees, festival fees, recital tickets, or books.


Class Theory Tuition

Tuition is due at the commencement of each course. Payment may be made by cheque in full OR in monthly payments with post-dated cheques dated for the 1st of each month. Length of course varies depending on the start date and exam rotation. Classes are 1 hour in length. A minimum of 3 students is required to be considered a class. Tuition fees are for class instruction only and do not include RCM exam fees or materials.


Private Theory Tuition

Tuition is due and payable at the commencement of each course.
Once it has been determined which exam session the student is preparing for, payment may be made by cheque in full, OR for the prescribed number of lessons required, OR in monthly payments with post-dated cheques dated for the 1st of each month. Tuition fees are for lessons only, and do not include RCM exam fees or materials such as books.


Trophies & Medals

We are pleased to offer our Practical Exam students trophies and medals for their excellent achievements on their RCM exams. For those students earning marks of between 80 and 89% (First Class Honours) they are awarded a medal and for marks of 90% and higher (Distinction), a trophy. Presentation of awards is generally done once a year at our Gala Recital.


Absences

Private Lessons: Each student reserves a set time for a weekly lesson and is responsible for showing up at that reserved time. Lesson times can not be extended if the student arrives late. Regrettably there are no make-up lessons for missed lessons, except in the event of a prolonged illness. In the event that a teacher misses a lesson, the lesson will be made up at a mutually agreeable time.

Classes: There are no make-up lessons if a student misses a class lesson but students will be supplied with the missed material. It is the responsibility of the student to catch up. In the event that a teacher misses a class, the class will be made up at a mutually agreeable time.


Returned Cheques

A $25.00 fee will be charged for returned cheques.


Withdrawal from Study

Students who wish to withdraw from study are required to give 3 weeks (lessons) notice. The remaining cheques held on account will be returned to the student. If the student chooses not to attend these lessons, 3 lessons will be deducted from their account and the remaining cheques will be returned.
